If you are heading to Jerusalem, it means that you are heading towards the capital, and the largest city in Israel. Jerusalem is located in the Judean Mountains, and you’ll find it between the Mediterranean Sea and the tip of the Dead Sea. This is an area that holds much of the history of the main religions that are present in this world. This means that the area is one to which many people would love to visit, unfortunately it is not something that everyone is able to do because of conflict and tension that takes place most of the time.

This is one of the oldest cities in the world, dating back farther than the 4th millennium BCE. Its history is rich and inviting, and goes back just as far as records of the city itself. It has been considered the holiest city in Judaism, and has also been the center of the Jewish people since the 10th century BCE. This is well documented in texts and in histories that have been passed down through the ages. As well, the city contains many different important Christian sites, and has therefore also been important in that religion. Thirdly, the city has been considered incredibly important in the Islam faith as well. This mixture of religions and history makes the city a very important place in the world when it comes to historical and religious scholars. The three different religions that converge on the area make it one of the most important sites in the world to people of many different faiths. Even those that do not follow any of the particular faiths are drawn to the enormous historical significance of the city.

The walled area of Jerusalem, which was the entire city itself until the 1860s, is called at present time the Old City. The Old City is the place that anyone visiting Jerusalem wants to visit, because it is what is most important to the people of the many different faiths around the world. For many years, due to the fighting and the other problems, the Old City of Jerusalem was in danger of being completely destroyed. However, it was added to the list of World Heritage Sites that are in danger in 1982. This meant that the cities most prominent attractions were recognized as being very important in the eyes of the rest of the world, and much money was put into the protection of this city from all of the factors that threatened to destroy it.

The city has been divided into four quarters for most of its history, and the quarters, known as the Armenian quarter, the Christian quarter, the Jewish quarter and the Muslim quarter, are full of religious sites and artifacts. The four quarters of the city are part of what makes it very important to scholars of all faiths. The names that the quarters refer to, which are the current names of the four different groups of people that live within them, are not the names and descriptions that have always been given to the four quarters. However, the city has, for most of its history, been divided into four quarters, although they might have been known as different things. Each of the quarters contains different elements, and many historical sites.

In fact, even though this quartered city is only .9 square kilometers, it is home to many of the most significant religious artifacts in the world. This is one of the most visited sites in the world as well. Also, this area is home to the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque, which are both hugely significant to those that follow the Muslim faith. Most Muslim people attempt to visit these sacred sites during their lifetime.

Outside the walled or Old City, modern Jerusalem has grown up and outward. It has become a civic and cultural hub, which extends towards the urban center of Israel - which is Gush Dan. Because of the many different religious and historical factors that are still at large today in the city of Jerusalem, it remains a center of conflict between the Israeli-Palestinian sides of issues. These issues are nothing new, as they have been around almost for the entire history of these religions. The area has been in conflict for many years.

There are many sides that claim to know what the origin for the Hebrew name of Jerusalem is - some say the name of the city means “legacy of peace”, while others say the name refers to the “builder of the first temple.” It could also refer to words that mean “whole” or “in harmony.” At any rate, the city is very old, because there have been artifacts that have been found that date back as far as the 4th millennium BCE. There is also evidence that there was a permanent settlement during the early Bronze age. The many different groups of people and also the many different religions that have had important places in this city make it a prime target for many historians and other religious scholars - however the fighting and tension in the city is often something that makes even the most simple visit to the city a difficult one indeed. There are many reasons to travel to Old Jerusalem, but it is recommended that you do some research on the town and the different religions as well as the different tensions that are currently in the area, so that if you visit you understand what is going on there.
